Sand casting


 

We cast parts in weight ranging from ounces to 2 000 pounds. We adapt ourselves to quantity requirements from a few units to thousands of parts.

Two sand casting processes are available:

  • Green sand casting for conventional industry requirements
  • Resin sand for precision and/or oversize parts.

The melting capacity is 10 000 pounds per work shift, ensuring a large production capacity and prompt, on-time deliveries.

The wide array of alloys available (A356, 206, 535 and 713) allows us to meet specific customers requirements.

The sand quality is controlled by an internal laboratory which ensures the humidity, permeability, and compactness specification compliance.

Cores fabrication is undertaken by distinct departments. Cores are used in complex casting. Three types of cores can be made: CO2, Shell Core and Resin Sand Cores.

 
 

Permanent molding

 

The permanent molding process is mostly suitable for annual quantities from 3 000 to 10 000 parts. From this process, we obtain better precision parts and a superior casting surface.

We mold parts weighing from a few ounces to 100 pounds in different alloys such as A356, A356-SR, and A413. Our melting capacity is 8 000 pounds per work shift.

Machined cast iron molds can incorporate mobile section in order to cast shapes which are not in the casting axel. Cores can also be used to make even more complex shapes.

Molds can be used on two types of presses (tilt or horizontal) available in different sizes.

 
 

Prototypes and sole casting


 

Our flexible operations allow us to be involved in the prototyping stage of a new casting.

The different pattern types (wood, randshape…) ensure quickness and low cost.

The prototype stage is a good opportunity for us to pass along design optimization recommendations.

Paber Aluminum also has a particular expertise in making sole parts of any dimension. This enables us to be involved in roto-molding or thermoforming mold projects or industrial replacement parts.

 
 

Turnkey projects



 

A wide range of additional services are available at the plant or through a reliable subcontractor network.

Machining:
Conventional or CNC machining in-house or through our subcontractor network.

Heat Treatment:
Heat treatment is done in-house.

Coating:
Various painting processes are available through our approved subcontractor network.

Surface treatment:
A wide array of surface treatments are available (anodizing for example) through our experienced subcontractor network.

Surface finishing:
Many processes are available at the plant such as: wheelbrating, tumbling, sandblasting and polishing.

Pattern fabrication:
Molds, patterns and core boxes design and fabrication are made in-house along with maintenance, repair and modifications. Subcontractors are also available, assuring Paber fast and competitive service.
